11 Self-Care Tips in The Time of Corona

Who would’ve thought that a speck of nothing can bring the world to a shutdown? We certainly didn’t. Yet, here we are, together, cocooned in the comfort of our homes trying to keep ourselves occupied through this difficult time. As merry as it sounds, a lockdown may not be the best vacation. It might be tedious, boring and monotonous. Here are 11 self-care tips to help you make the best out of this lockdown:

Meditate

How difficult is it when you reach home from a stressful day at work to finally sit and meditate for ten good minutes? Now away from the hurly-burly of traffic and work, you’re way calmer and sorted. Grab this opportunity, sit down and put your mind to ‘quiet.’ It should be easy.

Read

The written word is perhaps the greatest invention of human-kind. Put it to good use! Grab that book you’ve been avoiding, sit on your couch with a warm cup of tea and read away.

Eat

There can be nothing better than healthy, home-cooked food. Trust us, we are not joking! Quarantine can be the perfect time to not only better your body but also a treat to your gastronomical cravings.

Exercise

Yoga has been known to have benefits beyond the stretching and strengthening of your muscles. The best part about it is that it can be done at home, right beside your bed. Take online classes, YouTube yoga or simply do it yourself.

Organize

We don’t realize the effect of clutter on our mental health. Often, too much clutter around us can make us feel unhappy and sad. We are rarely home to effectively de-clutter our homes. Due to the lockdown, however, the time you’re at home sounds like… now!

Limit Exposure

Watching too much news can have a negative impact on your health, especially your mind. As much as it may be exciting to watch the news to get the latest details about COVID19, it is recommended to regulate your time period. Instead, watch a good movie/documentary, that uplifts your mood.

Connect

Call that long lost relative/friend that you’ve been wanting to. There’s no longer that ‘I’m busy’ excuse. In extraordinary times, a little love can re-assure you and them too.

Bathe

Take a long steamy shower during this lockdown. Use fragrance oils like lavender, lemongrass, etc. in your bath to make it all that much more exciting and de-stressing.

Listen to music

Now would be the most ideal time to make that playlist. Club all your favorite tracks, put on your headphones and swim through nostalgia as you sip on your hot chocolate.

Reflect

Take time to sit down and think about what you’re grateful for. We often don’t bother about the little things that make our life that much more special and worth living for.

Write

Make a journal. Write about your thoughts and feelings in your own language. A pandemic should be an amazing story to narrate to your kids and grandkids.

We hope that these self-care tips will help you make the best out of this lockdown. While you follow these self-care tips to de-clutter, de-stress and relax, do not forget that the worst is not over yet.

Stay strong, stay safe, stay vigilant and most importantly, stay home!
